Today marks the 142nd anniversary of Confederation in Canada. Confederation was the process in which the British Colonies of Upper Canada (Ontario) and Lower Canada (Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick became the Country of Canada. Confederation was an idea that started in the Charlottetown Conference which was a meeting between many politicians of the time. The politicians that attended this conference are now known as the fathers of confederation. Since the historic day of July 1st, 1867 Canada has grown to the second largest country in the world and now has 10 provinces and 3 territories. Have fun on this Canada Day and of course enjoy the fireworks and the day off.
